November Wolves
As you walk with Larka, you notice the wind has gotten much colder. The grassy plains that were home to the October Wolves were starting to merge with the western mountain side. Snow occasionally dots the ground and you shield your eyes as Larka takes you farther.
After a few minutes, the brown spotted wolf wags her tail. "Oh, here we are! The November Wolf Pack! This is where the wolves who favor cold weather had made their home."
"Why would they want to live so close to the mountains?" You ask, rubbing your hands together. "It is freezing here. Don't they like the warmth?"
Larka grins. "I agree with you on that one but these wolves have adapted to harsher life styles. You will notice as we go more into the western mountainside that the wolves will have thicker coats and are a more thoughtful bunch. Look! There's Jack and Echo. They are the alphas of this pack!"
Sure enough, a black and white wolf and his mate walk over to greet you. Behind them stand about fourteen of their pack members.
"Welcome to our home, wandering travelers." Jack says in a deep voice. "You have ventured far from your home Larka. I see you brought a stranger. If they keep to our ways, you two are welcome to come and visit. Walk swiftly though, a blizzard is approaching!"
